PurpleBox Terms of Service

Effective Date: 16th November 2025.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to your access to and use of PurpleBox, including the website, employer tools, candidate features, and any associated online products and services (collectively, the "Services") provided by Handshake with registered address Rue César Frank 60, 1050 Brussels, Belgium, VAT BE1021638246 ("Handshake", "we", "us").

By accessing or using the Services, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must stop using the Services immediately.

These Terms incorporate the following additional documents:

  • Privacy Policy, describing how we collect, use, store, and share personal data.
  • Cookie Policy, describing how we use cookies and similar technology.

1. Description of the Services

PurpleBox is a specialized job board focused on opportunities within the Odoo ecosystem. The Services include, but are not limited to:

  • providing a public job listing platform where employers can publish job posts;
  • optional candidate profiles and CV uploads for job seekers;
  • employer subscription plans, including free posts, featured posts, and the Unlimited Posting Plan;
  • employer access to a searchable candidate database (for eligible plans);
  • distribution of job posts to external channels (such as Discord, LinkedIn, X, Reddit), where applicable;
  • employer company pages and optional candidate visibility settings.

PurpleBox does not:

  • participate in hiring decisions;
  • verify employer or candidate identity or credentials;
  • guarantee job matches, applications, or hiring outcomes;
  • provide HR, legal, or recruitment advice;
  • operate or control external application forms or ATS systems.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Services.

For certain features (job posting, subscriptions, candidate profiles), you must create an account. You agree to:

  • provide accurate, complete, and current information;
  • maintain the confidentiality of your login details;
  • be responsible for all actions taken through your account;
  • notify us immediately of unauthorized access.

We may refuse registration, suspend accounts, or terminate access at our discretion.


3. License to Use the Services

Handshake grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited license to access and use the Services in accordance with these Terms.

This license does not permit you to:

  • license, sell, transfer, assign, distribute, host, or commercially exploit the Services or Content;
  • modify, create derivative works of, reverse-engineer, or decompile any part of the Services;
  • use the Services to build or operate a competing job board or recruitment platform;
  • access any Service or Content for data harvesting or benchmarking.

We reserve all rights not expressly granted under these Terms.


4. Prohibited Conduct (Important)

You may not use the Services in any way that:

  • violates any law or regulation;
  • is fraudulent, misleading, discriminatory, defamatory, or harmful;
  • attempts to access restricted areas without permission;
  • transmits malware, viruses, bots, or harmful code;
  • scrapes, copies, indexes, or exports Content, job posts, or candidate data;
  • overloads, disrupts, damages, or interferes with the Service;
  • creates fake employer or candidate profiles;
  • posts false, deceptive, or scam job listings;
  • uses automated tools to access or extract data;
  • harvests candidate information for non-recruitment purposes.

We may investigate and take action against any prohibited conduct.


5. User-Generated Content

Users (employers and candidates) may submit job posts, profiles, CVs, descriptions, or other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content but grant Handshake a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute such content as necessary to provide the Services.

You represent and warrant that:

  • you own or have rights to submit the User Content;
  • your User Content is accurate, lawful, and not misleading;
  • your User Content does not infringe third-party rights.

We reserve the right to remove or modify any User Content at any time.


6. Employer Responsibilities and Job Post Rules

Employers agree to:

  • ensure all job posts are accurate, lawful, and non-discriminatory;
  • provide valid company information and functional application links;
  • comply with all employment, labour, data protection, and advertising laws;
  • refrain from posting unpaid, misleading, or exploitative roles unless clearly labelled;
  • avoid posting duplicate or spam job listings;
  • maintain accurate company profile information.

Employers are solely responsible for all hiring practices and any obligations arising from recruitment activity.

PurpleBox is not responsible for:

  • verifying employer identity;
  • verifying job accuracy or salary details;
  • the actions of employers during or after the hiring process.

7. Candidate Profiles and Database Access

Candidates may optionally create profiles and upload CVs. Candidates control visibility preferences.

Employers with the Unlimited Posting Plan may access the candidate database. By accessing the database, employers agree:

  • to use candidate data only for legitimate recruitment purposes;
  • not to download, resell, or republish candidate data;
  • not to build external databases using PurpleBox data;
  • to delete candidate data upon request or upon conclusion of the recruitment process;
  • to comply with GDPR obligations when contacting candidates;
  • to provide appropriate privacy information to candidates.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension without refund.


8. Third-Party Sites and Apply Links

Job application links may redirect to external websites or ATS systems not operated by Handshake.

We are not responsible for:

  • the availability, security, or accuracy of external sites;
  • collection or processing of personal data on external sites;
  • malware, errors, tracking scripts, or cookies used on employer platforms;
  • any losses or harms caused by third-party websites.

Access external sites at your own risk.


9. Service Changes and Availability

We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We may also introduce new features or limit access to certain functionalities.

We are not liable for:

  • downtime caused by hosting providers (including JBoard, AWS);
  • temporary interruptions or outages;
  • delays or failures in job distribution to third-party channels.

10. Paid Plans, Billing, VAT, and Refunds

10.1 Pricing

Pricing is published on https://purplebox.co/pricing. We may change pricing at any time.

All prices exclude VAT. VAT is added based on customer location and VAT status.

10.2 Subscriptions

The Unlimited Posting Plan renews automatically each month until cancelled by the employer.

Billing occurs on the same calendar day each period.

10.3 Cancellation

Cancellation stops the next billing cycle. No refunds are provided for the current period.

10.4 Refund Policy

Payments are non-refundable, except where the Service was not delivered due to a confirmed technical failure attributable to Handshake or JBoard.

10.5 Failed Payments

If payment fails, we may:

  • retry the charge;
  • suspend access to paid features;
  • terminate the subscription.

10.6 Payment Processing

Stripe processes all payments. We do not store credit card data.


11. No Professional or Recruitment Advice

The Services do not constitute:

  • legal advice;
  • HR advice;
  • employment guarantees;
  • professional recommendations;
  • verification of candidate or employer information.

Users are solely responsible for decisions made based on the Services.


12. No Guarantee of Results

Handshake does not guarantee:

  • number of applications;
  • job visibility or ranking;
  • candidate interest or suitability;
  • distribution performance on external platforms;
  • uninterrupted access to the Services.

Employers acknowledge that recruitment outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.


13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Handshake, its owners, officers, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and service providers from all claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • your use of the Services;
  • your breach of these Terms;
  • your misuse of candidate data;
  • your job posts or User Content;
  • your actions toward candidates or employers.

14. No Warranty

The Services are provided strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Handshake and its licensors, partners, and third-party service providers disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • implied warranties of merchantability;
  • fitness for a particular purpose;
  • non-infringement;
  • accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the Services or Content;
  • uninterrupted or error-free operation;
  • security, safety, or absence of harmful components.

We do not warrant or guarantee that:

  • the Services will always be available, timely, secure, or free from errors;
  • defects will be corrected;
  • servers, hosting systems, or third-party providers (including JBoard, AWS, Stripe, analytics tools) will operate without interruption;
  • the Services or files downloaded from the website will be free of viruses, malware, or harmful code;
  • any Content, User Content, job post, employer information, or candidate profile will be accurate, up-to-date, lawful, or reliable.

Handshake does not endorse, verify, or assume responsibility for:

  • User Content (including job posts, salaries, claims, employer information, or candidate profiles);
  • third-party websites, apply links, ATS systems, or any external destinations;
  • the actions, omissions, or communications of employers, candidates, or any other third party.

You acknowledge that your use of the Services is entirely at your own discretion and risk, and that you alone are responsible for:

  • evaluating accuracy and reliability of Content;
  • safeguarding your devices and data;
  • verifying employers, candidates, or job opportunities;
  • decisions made based on information accessed through the Services.

15. Limitation of Liability. Limitation of Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and under any theory of liability, including contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, warranty, or otherwise, Handshake (PurpleBox) will not be liable for:

  • any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special, or punitive damages;
  • loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts, opportunities, goodwill, or anticipated savings;
  • loss, corruption, or damage to data or content;
  • damages arising from or relating to User Content, including content that may be inaccurate, misleading, defamatory, offensive, or illegal;
  • damages arising from your reliance on job posts, employer information, candidate profiles, or third-party websites;
  • damages caused by downtime, outages, service interruptions, or failures of third-party providers (including JBoard, AWS, Stripe, and other subprocessors);
  • damages linked to the use or inability to use external application links, third-party systems, or employer ATS platforms.

Access to and use of the Services is at your own discretion and risk. You are solely responsible for:

  • any damage to your device, computer system, or networks;
  • any loss or corruption of data resulting from your use of the Services;
  • ensuring your own backups and security protections.

In no event will our aggregate liability exceed the greater of €100.

Nothing in this section affects rights which cannot be excluded under Belgian or EU law.


16. Termination

We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, suspend or terminate your access to the Services, your account, or any related functionality if we believe that:

  • you have violated these Terms;
  • your actions expose us or other users to legal or security risks;
  • your subscription payments fail or remain unpaid;
  • your behaviour, job postings, or content undermine the integrity of the platform.

We may attempt to notify you where commercially reasonable, but we are not obligated to do so. Termination may include removal of your job posts, access restrictions, deletion of your account, or blocking you from future use of the Services.

You may terminate these Terms at any time by stopping your use of the Services and deleting your account.

Certain clauses survive termination, including those relating to intellectual property, User Content licenses, indemnification, limitation of liability, governing law, and dispute resolution.


17. Dispute Resolution

Before initiating any legal action, you agree to contact us at hello@purplebox.co and attempt to resolve the issue informally. We will make a reasonable effort to respond within 30 days.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or related to these Terms, the Services, or your use of the platform shall be governed by the laws of Belgium.

You agree that all disputes shall be resolved exclusively before the competent courts of Brussels, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • you waive the right to participate in any class action or collective proceeding;
  • claims must be brought in your individual capacity only.

18. Assignment of Rights

You may not assign, transfer, or delegate any rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.

We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without notice, including in connection with:

  • a merger,
  • acquisition,
  • sale of assets,
  • business restructuring,
  • transfer of the PurpleBox platform.

These Terms will remain binding upon permitted successors and assigns.


19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary, or removed entirely if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions will continue in full force.


20. Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision in these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver is only valid if it is in writing and signed by us.


21. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Handshake regarding your use of PurpleBox. They supersede all prior agreements, communications, representations, and understandings, whether written or oral.


22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of the page.

If required by law, we will notify you through:

  • email,
  • a notice on the website,
  • or updates within your account dashboard.

Your continued use of the Services after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services and close your account.
